Members own the store

As a Co-op member, you’re part owner; you have a stake in the success of the co-op, and
your involvement counts! You have input into what is on the shelves, how the store looks,
and the policies of the store. You have a vote at membership meetings. You can have direct
contact with the management and with the board of directors. You can be on a committee, get
elected to the Board of Directors, help with inventory, suggest new products for the shelves—
the sky’s the limit!

Members can place special orders

You can save money by ordering products in bulk. If the product you want is not carried
regularly,
you can usually special order it. As a member you can do this and receive most
orders in just a few days.

Members and volunteers will get discounts

Just by being a member, you receive a 5% member discount on everything in the store as
well as discounts on special orders. There is also a Member's Day, the first Thursday of the month
and the discount is increased to 10% off for that day! Volunteering weekly or monthly you get discounts and you become familiar with how the Co-op works. Volunteer shifts can be done in
the store or by serving on committees (see the bulleting board in the store for volunteer opportunities). We offer additional discounts to reward our working volunteers.

Members are actively breaking corporate control of our food

By being a member and doing most of your shopping at the Co-op, you challenge the
corporate monopoly on the production, packaging, transport, and selling of food and
household products. Larger grocery stores are actually offering increasingly less choice
and control. Someone else determines where to buy the food, from whom to buy, and
what products are on the shelves. Fruits and vegetables grown to survive shipping may look
great but are often tasteless and hard. It has become nearly impossible to trace the complex
route a conventional product in the global commodity food chain may take from the farm or
factory to the grocery chain shelf. Products are not labeled as to their real origin, content of
genetically modified (GM) ingredients, pesticide or chemical residues, environmentally
damaging or unsafe production processes, or labor practices. Shopping at the co-op is a
chance to connect with friends and find out what's going on in the community.

Members receive a newsletter

You don’t have to be a member to shop at our store, but if you are, you’ll receive discounts
and a quarterly newsletter with articles, recipes and ways for you to be more involved in our community and store. Not to mention an additional 10% off coupon for another visit!
