The CWFC Presents a Winter CSA!

October 7th, 2009: We are offering a basket filled with produce staples, lettuce, spinach, carrots, celery, onions, tomatoes, potatoes, and garlic, along with some ever changing fruit items and cooking ingredients.  It's a great way for us to bring you consistent and reliable produce this winter.  The CSA will run approximately 20 weeks.  Our first pick up will be Wednesday, November 4th, and will run until Wednesday, March 3rd.  Due to space restrictions, we will only be able to offer 20 baskets.  So sign up fast!!!  The baskets will be $30 a week, or if you pay for all 20 weeks up front, you can save 10%!!!  We've done the math, and plan on stretching your $30 to the max every week!  Please call us at the Coop, 218-828-4600, or email us with any questions.

5 Stars in the Field

September 13th, 2009: Our latest event to bring awareness to the Coop and obtain capital for our relocation, 5 Stars in the Field - a local harvest foods dinner, was a HUGE success. We would like to thank all the people who made it possible. Without your support and expertise, we would not have been able to make the event so memorable! THANK YOU!

For those of you who were unable to attend the event due to space limitations or anything else, pencil in your calendars for mid-September 2010! We are planning to have this event be an annual one!

Change in Leadership

September 10th, 2009: After much debate, Lance James decided at our last board meeting that he would like to step down as President of the Board so he can pursue other interests. In the interim,
Ed Shaw will step up as President until the next Annual Meeting and election. Other changes in the leadership include Julie Rayhorn stepping up as Secretary of the Board.

Things missing on the shelves....

August 12th, 2009: Jess and I are starting to really evaluate some of the products we have on the shelves.  We are researching brands and doing our best to offer you safe, delicious, and reputable options.  Some new brands on the shelf are...

Alaffia!!  Alaffia is an amazing shea butter company.  They make everything from all purpose African black soap, to facial creams.  They are fair trade and give a huge percentage back to the African village that the shea butter comes from.

Beauty Without Cruelty
EO Shampoo and Conditioner

We are replacing our Natures Gate products with the above products.  We agree that Natures gate is a good price, but its not the best product that we can offer.  After doing some research on the Environmental Working Group website, we realized that Natures Gate was rated a 7-8 on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the most harmful to your health.  Check the site out and rate some of your own products at home  www.cosmeticsdatabase.com.  Thanks!!

A product/company we wanted to applaud is Stoneyfield Farm!!  Weve learned that Stoneyfield Farm gives 20% of its yearly profits back to non profit environmental groups.  They are constantly pursuing ways to shrink their carbon footprint, and give back to the community.  Check them out www.stoneyfield.com

If you love a product that you think we should learn about, let us know!!

Change to Member Discount...

June 26th, 2009: Effective July 1st, 2009 - in accordance to recommendations from the SBA
and Whole Foods Co-op in Duluth, our board has changed our Member Discount and how it operates.

Please Note: We will be discontinuing our daily 5% discount and
reducing our Member Day discount to 5%

We are doing all we can to ensure that our relocation to a bigger and better store will happen.
By discontinuing the daily discount, we will be able to put close to $2000 per month into our Relocation Fund!

Thank you for your support and consideration!
